05/10/2009 - Andy Burnham MP joins Skip2bfit class at Lowton St Mary’s Primary School
Leigh MP and Health Secretary Andy Burnham joined the Skip2bfit national school campaign at Lowton St Mary’s Primary School on Friday, 2nd October 2009 to add his support to the launch of Skip2bfit in the North West.
Andy saw a class in action and took up the skip2bfit team’s challenge himself , to see how many skips he could do in two minutes. With a score of over 140 skips Andy agreed with the competition core message that ‘it isn’t who does the most but the fact that everyone can improve, if they work hard’.
All pupils taking part received a health leaflet and a small punnet of the ‘super fruit’ Blueberries as well as a Skip2bfit skipping rope.
Andy Burnham MP said, “The children all had a great time and I really enjoyed the skip2bfit challenge, but the fun day also carried an important message for the pupils that taking part in regular exercise and eating well is all part of a healthy lifestyle.”
